In addition to teaching private guitar and performing with CFCC's jazz ensemble, Peter Smith has been Assistant Professor of Humanities at CFCC since August of 2003.  Peter is an accomplished performer and lectures regularly on such topics as Florida cultural history, African-American history, and music of all periods.  Peter received a BA from the University of Vermont, MA from Goddard College and the University of South Florida, and Ph.D. from Florida State University.  He is a member of a variety of professional organizations including Beta Phi Mu.
