CF Open House Events for Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Feb. 18, 2014
The College of Central Florida will host open house events to share information about the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, which begins fall 2014 at CF. In these casual question-and-answer sessions, attendees will learn about the new program as well as career pathways in nursing.
The first session will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, from 10-11:30 a.m. in Building 19, Room 118, at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. Additional sessions will be held Saturday, March 8, from 2-3:30 p.m.; Tuesday, March 25, from 5:30-7 p.m.; and Thursday, April 10, from 2-3:30 p.m. at the same location. In addition, there will be an open house Wednesday, March 12, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the CF Citrus Campus, 3800 S. Lecanto Highway.
CF estimates that tuition for upper division nursing courses at CF will cost $4,715, which is more than 40 percent less than a student would pay if they earned their degree at a four-year public university.
Dr. Barbara Lange, CF dean of Health Sciences, said the appeal of CF’s BSN degree is more than convenience and affordability.
“Our nursing program is well-established and more successful than many other state and national programs,” said Lange. “Our students’ passing rates on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses are much higher than state and national averages. In 2012, for example, our passing rate was 96 percent, but the state average was 87 percent and the national average was 90 percent.”
