"Cracker House, Waller Road"
CF Citrus to Host Art of Ann Covington
Oct. 9, 2013
The College of Central Florida will host the artwork of Ann Covington Oct. 21 through Nov. 22 in the upstairs exhibition hall of the Dorothea Jerome Building at the Citrus Campus, 3800 S. Lecanto Highway, Lecanto.
Covington works in many mediums, including oils, watercolor, acrylic, pencil, and pen and ink. Her work has sold locally and internationally, and she has published a book, “Sketches of Historic Floral City.”
“Even though I have spent many years sailing around the world, homespun familiarity and comfortable realities are the hallmark of my work,” said Covington in her artist’s statement. “I like to draw on site (plein air) with charcoal or graphite. My black and white sketches peacefully ease one into a sense of reverence for the prideful but forgotten homestead and the pure thought and gesture of the moment.”
There is no fee to view the exhibit. The hours are 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. The exhibit is closed during the weekend. For more information, contact CF Associate Professor of Visual Arts Michele Wirt at 352-746-6721, ext. 6131.
