Great American Smoke Out Health Fair at CF Levy Center Nov. 21
Nov. 12, 2013
The College of Central Florida Levy Center and the Tobacco Free Partnership of Levy County will host a health fair Thursday, Nov. 21, from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at the CF Levy Center, 114 Rodgers Blvd., Chiefland.
The event is being held in conjunction with the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smoke Out.
Tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the U.S. The smoke out, held annually on the third Thursday of November, was designed to encourage America’s 43.8 million smokers to make a plan to quit.
The Tobacco Free Partnership of Levy County will provide information on tobacco cessation and prevention.
The college will provide information on its Nursing, Certified Nursing Assistant and Emergency Medical Services programs, and program graduates will be on hand to offer blood pressure screenings.
The following businesses and agencies will also provide information at the fair: Yoga for Y’all, Meridian Behavioral Healthcare, Levy County Sheriff’s Department, Chiefland Police Department and Haven Hospice.
