Achievements and Highlights

The Surgical Technology Program was designated an Elite 20 Program for the fourth consecutive year by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for Surgical Technology.


CFCC earned two awards from “Ocala Pride in Bloom” for Ocala Campus beautification.


The student publications Patriot Press and Imprints received several awards from the Florida Community College Press Association. Patriot Press placed fourth overall in the state in the smaller college division, and Imprints earned third place for general excellence.


Dr. Scott Olson’s book The Golden Section: Nature’s Greatest Secret was released and received a first place award for design from the Bookbinders’ Guild of New York.


Dr. Ron Cooper’s first novel, Hume’s Fork, was released.


Associate Professor Patrick Fleming returned to the classroom from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan and shared his experiences as a Fulbright Scholar.


The college received several awards at the state meeting of the Florida Association of Community Colleges, including Best in Show and First Place for the 2005 CFCC Annual Report and Second Place for the Spring 2006 Connections News Magazine.


Jana Bernhardt was honored with the FACC Student Development Commission’s Faculty Connection Award.


The Offce of Professional Development and Teaching/Learning Institute received the 2006 Institutional Merit Award from the National Counsel for Staff Program and Organizational Development.


The Speech and Debate Team earned first place in debate and second place overall in the annual state competition. Coach Connie Tice was named Coach of the Year.


The 17th annual Taste of Citrus was attended by about 450 individuals and raised approximately $25,000 for the Taste of Citrus Endowment which will enable us to apply for an additional $25,000 in state match funds.


The Appleton Museum of Art of Central Florida Community College celebrated 20 Years of Collecting. The museum attracts approximately 20,000 visitors each year. Its collection has tripled in size since the day it opened.


Ron and Phyllis Ewers were selected as Benefactors of the Year in Region IV by the Council of Resource Development.


The college was selected to host a Fulbright Scholar as part of the Fulbright Visiting Specialists Program: Direct Access to the Muslim World.


The Patriot Booster Room in the college gymnasium was named in honor of Wayne Childers.
