Voice

I looked at the heavens for answers, but all I
Saw was stars, and the brilliant glow of the
Moon.
I went back inside my house, where everything
Could be explained with simple logic.

I know I heard my dead aunt’s voice last night.
I know I did… I know I did… I know I did.
I might be crazy, I hope I am.

I went to bed anticipating sleep, when
I heard the voice again.
I could do nothing, except to curl up under my blanket
Wishing the voice away.
It grew louder, until it shrieked with anger and agonizing
Pain.

I could not ignore it any longer.
My aunt stood there melancholy, and skeletal, as her voice
Beckoned me to hold her.
I did, the embrace was electric.

Within that embrace, everything between us was resolved.
She left then; but this time she glowed, she was finally
At peace, I had forgiven her.
