International Student Services

As an F1 student at the College of Central Florida, you are required to:

Register for 12 credit hours in the Fall & Spring semester
You must take a least 12 credit hours unless you are approved for a Reduced Course Load. For a 12 credit course load, you may only take one 3-credit online or hybrid class. Summer semester is a vacation semester, except for new students in which summer is their first semester. You must have permission for a Reduced Course Load before dropping a class.

Be aware of the Program End Date on your I-20
If you need additional time to complete the requirements of your degree program, you must apply for an extension before the program date. Once your Program End Date has passed, you must exit the U.S. within 60 days, or transfer to a Bachelor degree program, either at CF or at another College of University.

Do not participate in unauthorized employment
Whether it is an internship, on campus or off campus, paid or unpaid, all employment must be approved by CF International Student Services. Do not begin employment or accept employment until you have been approved.

Purchase student health insurance
You are required to be covered by health insurance, either from Insurance For College Students (IFCS) or an approved alternate policy. You are required to be enrolled while you are enrolled at CF, and if you participate in OPT.

Have a valid passport
You must have a valid, unexpired passport. If you renew your passport, submit a copy of your new passport to CF ISS.

Update your contact information within 10 days
This includes your physical address in the Ocala, Florida area, your phone number, your e-mail address and your emergency contact information. Update your information by contacting CF ISS within 10 days of changing your address.

Know your tuition and fee payment responsibilities
You must pay your full tuition and fees by the due date specified on your course registration schedule each semester that you are enrolled. If you fail to pay your full tuition balance by the due date, you will be removed from all of your courses. If you are not enrolled during the semester, you will be considered out of status, your I-20 will immediately be terminated and you will be required to depart the U.S.

Know your status is a non-Florida resident for tuition purses.
All F1 students are considered non-Florida residents for tuition purposes. While enrolled at CF, you are not eligible for in-state tuition. Tuition for out-of-state students is $421.88 per credit hour.
Get your I-20 signed before you travel
If you plan to travel outside the United States, bring your original I-20 to CF ISS and have a Designated School Office (Suzanne Gregalot or Sharon Shore) sign page 3.

Know CF’s placement testing policies
All new students at CF, including international students, are required to take the Post-Education Readiness Test (PERT) before registering for classes. Class placement will be based on the results of your scores. The PERT will test you in reading, writing and math. You may take the PERT one additional time in the Testing Center (Room 205).

Failure to follow the above requirements may negatively impact your F1 visa. Students who do not follow the above requirements, may be considered out-of-status and possibly result in the termination of the I-20. If you think that you are out-of-status, please contact CF ISS immediately. It is your responsibility to follow all requirements of your F1 student visa, including requirements listed on page 2 of your I-20.
