Academy Information
Introduction
The College of Central Florida Criminal Justice Institute is a D.O.E. designated Criminal Justice Center of Emphasis, committed to offering courses that are informative and timely to the criminal justice community. All of our seminars and workshops are presented by certified instructors with extensive educational and/or professional backgrounds.
Admission Criteria
Occupational Certificate Program in
CORRECTIONS or LAW ENFORCEMENT via the CF Criminal Justice Institute
To apply for admission into the Corrections or Law Enforcement certificate program, each applicant must:
- Be at least 19 years of age
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement
- Not have been dishonorably discharged from the military (if applicable)
- Be of good moral character**
- Have a completed background check
- Have passed a physical examination by a licensed physician (M.D. or D.O., or a physician’s assistant within 6 months of the start of class)
- Have passed the Florida Basic Abilities Test (F-BAT)
- Be in good academic standing at College of Central Florida and not have any outstanding financial obligations to the college
- Complete CF admission process (Bldg. 5) and declare a major code of 7251 for Law Enforcement, or 7239 for Corrections.
- Submit official, sealed, college and high school transcripts from all schools attended to the CF Admissions office (Bldg. 5)
To schedule your F-BAT test contact the Assessment Center, Bldg. 5 at (352) 854-2322, ext. 1395 or 1430 (Results must be less than two years old from start of academy, and must be completed prior to submitting application)
In addition, the applicant must submit:
- A completed/signed College of Central Florida Criminal Justice Institute Applicant Questionnaire
Note: All the above information must be submitted as a package.
Admission to the program will be based on the following:
- Completed questionnaire and attachments
- Review of Application Package
- Background check (if required)
** The perpetration by an individual of any act or acts, whether criminally prosecuted or not, listed in Rule 11B-27.0011(4b) would preclude admission to any Criminal Justice Institute Program.
