Business, Technology and Workforce Learning -
The Career Academy
The Academy at CFCC is a collaborative project with the Marion County School Board. Already in its fourth year, this program is targeted at high school seniors interested in getting a head start on college while earning their high school diploma.
The program has steadily risen from 10 students in 1999-2000 to 57 students for the 2005-2006 school year.

All instruction is conducted on the CFCC Ocala campus. Students complete their remaining high school core courses, and begin tackling various introductory courses in their chosen career. Among the tracks available to students are Fire Science, Engineering/Graphics, Business, Health Professions, Public Service and Culinary Arts. Individual coursework includes Microcomputer Applications, Business Math, Business Law and Leadership and Supervision. In addition to the Academy curriculum, students participate in a Guided Workplace Learning internship assignment with local employers.
Completers of past Academies have enjoyed scholarship awards, and pursued higher education opportunities at public and private Florida universities. Many students have continued their educational program at CFCC.
