Prescription for Success

Treasure MapPrescription for Success is a program designed to increase the enrollment, retention and graduation rates of minority and economically disadvantaged students. The program gives students a peer support system, and provides social and cultural awareness. Students must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or better and must be active participant in the College Reach-Out Program. During the student’s senior year in high school, the student is required to complete a specially designed program to prepare them for life as a college student. The program includes instruction in the following areas: how to complete a CFCC college admission application, how to complete scholarship applications, how to complete FAFSA and other financial aid forms, test taking strategies, study skills, leadership skills, etiquette seminars (class room, social and business), and CPT preparation.  As part of the program student will be provided mentoring, academic and enrollment advisement.

College Reach-Out Program (CROP)

CROP is a program funded by the state of Florida to assist economically and educationally disadvantaged students in grades 6 to 12 prepare for college. The program offers after-school tutoring, FCAT, ACT, SAT and CPT preparation classes, summer academic programs, college campus tours and educational field trips. Applications for this program are available in January and September.

Rural Health Initiative

The Rural Health Initiative project educates rural and minority populations about specific health disorders. Individuals may view or check out CDs that discuss the symptoms, treatments and available resources for disorders such as diabetes, hypertension, colon, breast and prostate cancer.
