RSVP VolunteerWhat is the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)?

RSVP, the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program invites adults 55 and better to use their talents, skills and life experiences to help solve community problems.

RSVP is a national program funded through the Corperation for National and Community Service, a federal agency.  Established in 1971 and now one of the largest senior volunteer organizations in the nation, RSVP engages over 400,000 people age 55 and better in a diverse range of volunteer activities.  Volunteers recruit and coordinate other volunteers, tutor and mentor children and adults, renovate homes, assist victims of natural disasters, provide independent living services, and serve their communities in many other ways.  RSVP volunteers choose how, where, and how often they want to serve, with commitments ranging from a few hours to 40 hours per week.

The RSVP sponsor in Marion County is Central Florida Community College.  The college received the sponsorship in September of 2002.  RSVP of Marion County is located in the Ewers Century Center.  It can be found in the Pathways Center, along with Senior Institute and Life Services.
