CLEP (College Level Examination Program)
There are currently 33 different CLEP tests that can be taken for college credits.

CPT (computerized placement test)
The CPT we use is written and scored by Accuplacer. This test is used throughout the Florida community college system, and many other colleges’ nation wide for placement. The scores on this test will determine if a student starts with refresher classes or college level classes. This is not a pass/fail test and it is not timed. The average time to complete all 4 parts of this test including instructions is 2hrs. Results are available immediately after completion.
The CPT Study Guide is available online, however, please be aware that some components of the test are not used at this time.

DANTES (Defense Activity for Nontraditional Education Support)
This test has some similarity to CLEP and is used to earn college credit. There are 37 different tests listed in our CFCC catalog, Page 28.

F-BAT (Florida Basic Abilities test)
Successfully completing this test is part of the requirement to work within the criminal justice system within the state of Florida.

FTCE (Florida Teacher Certification Examinations)
Many different exams are available to add to a current teacher’s certification or to become a newly certified teacher. Many of the computer based and some of the paper-pencil FTCE tests are administered at the Ocala campus.
Please do not call CFCC’s testing center about registering for any of these tests. Registering for the computer test is accomplished by going to http://www.fl.nesinc.com and starting by clicking on the top rectangle. Then follow the directions on Promissor’s web site. To receive a packet to register for the paper pencil tests go to http://www.fl.nesinc.combottom rectangle and follow the directions. You can pick up registration packets at your local school board and at many colleges that have education programs.

Test Preparation is available at Central Florida Community College through the Educator Preparation Institute for the following FTCE – General Knowledge, Professional Education, Exceptional Student Education (ESE), Kindergarten – Grade 6, Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum 5-9, Middle Grades Math 5-9, and Middle Grades General Science 5-9.

GED (General Education Development Test)
Passing all parts of this test will result in receiving the equivalent of a High School Diploma.
This test is not given at CFCC in Ocala. For cost and testing in Marion County contact the Community Technical Center at 352.671.7200.
This test is administered at the Levy Campus. Contact Irene Flowers at 352.493.9533, Ext. 2114.

HESI (Health Education Systems, Inc.)
The HESI is a test used by the CFCC Health and Human Services Department as one of the determinants for acceptance into the ADN program. The HESI is computer based and the average time to complete all nine parts of the test, including instructions, is four hours. The HESI is available only on the Ocala campus.

TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education)
CFCC administers the computerized and/or written versions of the TABE-Form 9A and 10A versions. The computerized version is the customary version that is administered; however, when necessary the written version is also administered. In the computerized version, scores are available upon completion of the test. The written version is hand scored and it may take up to 24 hours to receive scores. The TABE is a test in language, mathematics, reading, and spelling. It is used as a placement test for occupational and certificate programs, and some AS degree programs. The average time to complete all parts of the test, including instructions, is 2 hours.
