Financial Aid Policies

CFCC reserves the right to deny fee deferment requests from late applicants.

  • The federal processor using a method/formula approved by Congress evaluates information you provide on the FAFSA. When you complete all sections of the FAFSA, you will be automatically considered for a Pell Grant and all other federal programs for which you may be eligible.
  • Full-time enrollment is 12 or more hours per semester. Hours for Summer A, B and/or C classes are combined to determine enrollment status.
  • Florida Prepaid Tuition Plan credits will be factored in as part of the financial aid package. It is imperative that you present your ID, class schedule and Florida Prepaid card to the Cashier's Office EACH TERM following registration and BEFORE YOUR FEES ARE DUE. If your schedule changes, you will need to return to the Cashier's Office to update your record to ensure the appropriate credit is given towards your total semester tuition.
  • Any aid a student receives or expects to receive from an outside source must be reported to the Financial Aid office. This includes scholarships, grants and loans not awarded by the CFCC Financial Aid office. This also includes money received for childcare, books, transportation, etc. from outside agencies. The receipt of any such aid may affect your need-based award(s).
  • All eligible Florida residents should apply for a Florida Student Assistance Grant (FSAG). To apply for an FSAG, you must complete every question on the FAFSA and list CFCC’s code 001471 in Item 97a (The FAFSA must be processed by the Pell processor by May 15, 2008).

Non-Florida residents may be eligible for additional financial aid through their state of permanent residence. Students should contact their respective state's Department of Education.
  • The Financial Aid office uses the student's address on file with the Admissions office to communicate with the student and when mailing financial aid checks. Students should keep their address up to date in the Enrollment Services Center. Students may update their address at any time in the Center.
  • The Financial Aid office reserves the right, on behalf of CFCC, to review and cancel awards at any time because of changes in a student's financial or academic status, academic program, resident status, enrollment status, etc.
  • All student financial aid awards are contingent upon the availability of funds from the U.S. Department of Education or other appropriate agency.
  • Individuals who anticipate receiving financial aid as a means of support should have resources available equivalent to at least two months living expenses when beginning classes. Provisions may be made to defer payment of tuition against awarded financial aid. Net financial aid refunds are released to the student approximately four to six weeks after a semester begins via the Higher One process. Avoid any delays by activating and choosing your method of payment for any refunds. Students who have been awarded aid for a semester may be able to charge books from the CFCC Bookstore for that semester.
