Financial Aid Application Process for the Future Student

Though the primary responsibility for funding a college education belongs to the student and his/her family, many students demonstrate need for financial assistance through the Federal formula for determining need. Need for all students is determined utilizing the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) which is derived from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) submitted by the student. Once the FAFSA is processed by the Federal Government, the results are forwarded to Central Florida Community College.

For the best results, apply early.

For Fall Registration - Complete all of these steps by July 1.

For Spring Registration - Complete all of these steps by November 1.

For Summer Registration - Complete all of these steps by March 1.

Step 1

Admissions/ Application:

Apply for admission to Central Florida Community College as a degree or certificate seeking student.

Request your high school transcripts or GED and your college transcripts if you have attended a previous institution. Academic transcripts from prior schools attended other than CFCC must be received and coursework evaluated by CFCC’s Admissions Office before financial assistance can be awarded.

Step 2

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA):

Submit the FAFSA to the federal processor. You can do this on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov

Be sure to include CFCC’s federal school code number 001471. To electronically sign your application you (and your parent) can apply for a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov. Allow at least four weeks for processing. Electronically signing your application will significantly reduce processing time.

Step 3

Additional Information:

Additional information such as copies of your tax returns or copies of other official documents may be needed. Be sure to respond promptly to all requests.

Make sure the Records Office has your correct address and phone number at all times.

Step 4

Scholarship, Student Loans, or Work Study Jobs:

Research and apply for scholarships based on special talents. Scholarship deadlines are usually much earlier than aid deadlines, so start the process early!

Apply for a student loan if you need to borrow funds.

Apply for a work study job if you want to work part-time at CFCC.
