Graduation Ceremony Procedures
Before the ceremony:
Please assemble at Fellowship Hall at the First Baptist Church no later than 6 p.m. Leave personal items (purses, telephones, etc.) locked in your vehicle or with friends/relatives. CF staff members cannot be responsible for personal items during the ceremony.
Proceed to the tables to pick up your card – alphabetically by last name. You will be asked to print your e-mail address on the back of the card; your graduation photograph proofs will be emailed to you shortly after graduation. Keep this card with you at all times and hand it to the narrator when you approach the platform. Your name will be announced as you walk across the stage.
If your card has Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude or Summa Cum Laude stamped on it, proceed to the Honors table to pick up your honors cord.
PTK members, if you have not already done so, proceed to the PTK table to pick up your PTK tassel and sash.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. you will be asked by the marshals to start lining up for the processional. PTK and Community of Scholars students lead the procession with all other graduates following and the BAS and BS students at the end of the procession. Other than the PTK, Community of Scholars students, BAS and BS students, there is no particular order for marching, so you may line up with your classmates and friends.
At this time all cell phones and beepers should be turned off.
Tassels should be worn on the RIGHT side.
During the ceremony:
As a part of the degree conferral process, you will be escorted to the platform for individual recognition. Please hand the name card you received to the narrator’s assistant when you reach the stage. When you cross the stage, you will receive your diploma cover and the president will shake your hand. You will then leave the stage by the opposite ramp, have your picture taken, and return to your row and seat.
A professional photographer from GradImages GradTrak will take your picture after you receive your diploma cover and cross the stage. Your photograph will be available for purchase at a later time. The photographer will e-mail proofs directly to you at the email address provided. Please clearly print your email address on the back of your name card. If you have any questions about your photographs, you may call 800-261-2576 or check online at www.gradimages.com. There will also be an area set aside for family members and guests to take pictures. Please use this designated area only.
There will be a live webcast of the event for those who are unable to attend. Go to www.CF.edu and click on the link for the Live Webcast.
All graduates are expected to remain in their seats until the entire ceremony is over. Please plan for a minimum of one hour. Please ask family and friends to remain seated to ensure the solemnity of the ceremony.
Diplomas and transcripts:
Your official diploma or certificate will be mailed to the address indicated on your graduation application in January. If you do not meet all the requirements for graduation, you will be notified in writing. Transcripts that have been requested to be sent upon degree confirmation will be mailed once graduation has been posted.
