Logging On To Your Online Course

Logging on to your online course:

  • If you have technical problems or questions, please email the Distance Learning Help Desk at dlhelp@cf.edu or call (352)-854-2322 ext 1317.   Please do not email the CFCC webmaster for WebCT support.

Our courses are hosted through a server called WebCT.  Below you will find instructions on how to access your course as well as some troubleshooting pointers.  Many instructors do not allow access to their courses until the scheduled first class meeting, so don’t panic if you can’t log on until that date.

Accessing the WebCT Server:

  • Go to our homepage at www.cf.edu.
  • Click on “Distance Learning” in the middle of the top of the page.
  • Link to “Online Courses” and find your category and course.
  • Your user name will be your last name and first initial (all lowercase, no spaces).  For example,  smithj for John Smith
  • Your password will be the last 4 digits of your social security number.
    • If you have trouble at this point you need to check a few things:
      • Check to see that you are logging in to the correct section of the course.
      • Make sure you are not using any caps.
      • Make sure that you have not entered any spaces.
      • If you are still unable to log in and the course has started, contact the help desk.
        • Include your name, course number and last four digits of your SSN in your email.
        • Please include your email address in your voicemail.
        • Be as detailed as possible about your problem.
  • Once you have logged in to your course, you will be asked to either create a “MyWebCT” account or log in to one.
  • If you have one, you can log in.
  • If you don’t you will need to create one.
  • We suggest that you leave your user name and password the same as the one you were assigned because it reduces the number of password problems that students have.
  • I suggest that you do not have your computer save your user name and password.  Many students do this and end up losing their password each semester.
