(OCALA, Fla.) Feb. 29, 2012 — The College of Central Florida opens its 2012 Student Art Exhibition on Wednesday, April 4, at the Webber Center Gallery, Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. This annual exhibit is a favorite with students, faculty, staff and the community.

The public is invited to the opening reception and awards presentation for the judged and juried exhibit from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on April 4. The exhibit and reception are free.

The exhibit includes artworks created by students from the Ocala and Citrus campuses during the fall 2011 and spring 2012 semesters, taught by Visual Arts instructors Tyrus Clutter, Zacharais Castedo-Rogers, Charles Cummings II, Jan Hitchcock, Joel Parker and Michele Wirt.

"After only two years at CF, I am able to see amazing improvements in the quality of work produced by our visual art students," said Clutter. "These student artists, from Marion and surrounding counties, are proving that they are both proficient and skilled with a variety of media and able to plumb the depths of human experience.

"CF students are clearly on track to continue their art education at many fine institutions or dive into a variety of creative careers. The work presented in this gallery is a testament to their artistic endeavors," Clutter said.

The exhibition will include a variety of two-dimensional and three-dimensional works, including paintings, drawings, digital media, sculpture and ceramics. Many of the works are available for sale.

Judge for the exhibition is Richard Heipp, director of the School of Art and Art History at University of Florida and an artist of large-scale paintings, installations and site-specific public art projects that synthesize digital and analog processes.

The exhibit will continue through Wednesday, May 4. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The gallery is closed Sundays, Mondays and college-observed holidays. For additional information, call 352-873-5809. To learn more about CF, visit
