CF Foundation Hosts Taste of Ocala
(OCALA, Fla.) March 26, 2012 — The College of Central Florida Foundation will host Taste of Ocala on Saturday, May 5. The scholarship fundraiser will be held from 6:30 to 10 p.m. in the Ewers Century Center at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road.
“We are taking the best elements of Taste from over the decades and combining them for an event that is true to our mission — raising scholarship funds for students to attain their educational dreams,” said Joan Stearns, vice president of Institutional Advancement at CF. “The event will have the familiar Taste atmosphere at home on our campus, but the format will be streamlined to ensure that funding benefits the greatest number of students, especially during a time when scholarship assistance is needed most.”
The 2012 Taste of Ocala will include sampling of American, Asian, Brazilian, Cuban and Italian foods, as well as wine tasting. More than a dozen restaurants have signed on to provide signature entrees, appetizers and desserts. Local musicians will provide entertainment and a raffle will also be available.
Tickets are $100 each or $150 per couple and are available at www.TasteofOcala.org. For information or sponsorship opportunities call the CF Foundation at 352-873-5808.
The first Taste of Ocala was held in 1989 and for several years the event was held at the Paddock Mall in Ocala. In 2007, the 50th anniversary of the college, the event moved across College Road to the Ocala Campus and became an outdoor event.
To date, in excess of $450,000 has been disbursed from Taste of Ocala events, providing students with the ability to attend the College of Central Florida.
