Appleton Museum Announces 'What the Appleton Means To Me' Video Contest
(OCALA, Fla.) Oct. 12, 2012 — Community members are invited to be creative and shoot a one-minute video of “What the Appleton Means to Me” to be eligible to win a free 12-month Family Membership to the Appleton Museum of Art, College of Central Florida. The video will be posted on the Appleton’s Facebook page, website www.AppletonMuseum.org, and shown at the museum’s 25th Birthday Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 16.
Videos must be one minute in length or less and submitted on a CD or DVD. Contestants need to include their name, address, telephone number and email address and deliver the video to the Appleton or mail it to Appleton Museum, Attn.: Steve Specht/Marketing Dept., 4333 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, FL 34470-5001. Deadline for entries is 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16. Current exhibitions at the Appleton include “Pure Photography: Pictorial and Modern Photographs from the Syracuse University Art Collection” and “FLORAda and Flowing Waters: The Art of Mark Messersmith, Margaret Ross Tolbert and Anna Tomczak.” In addition, the Appleton Museum of Art offers a permanent collection of European, American and Contemporary art, plus Asian, African, Islamic and pre-Columbian artifacts and antiquities. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. Sundays and closed on Mondays, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. A 12-month membership is available for $25 for seniors 55 and over, $30 for adults 18 and over, $40 for two seniors over age 55, $50 for a family of two adults and any children under age 18, and $15 for all college students and current or retired educators.
