The foundation’s Endowed Chairs for Excellence Program provides the college financial resources to directly impact learning and teaching environments. A fitting start, the program began in 1992 with a faculty and staff campaign that provided the initial funding for the chairs program.

There are now five categories of Endowed Chairs, many of which have been named for the donors who, in establishing endowed chairs, perpetuate both their belief in the importance of education and the quality of CF programs and services.

Category I: To Enhance the Teaching and Learning Environment
Honors outstanding individual CF faculty members and provides these individuals with resources to directly impact their classroom environment. Faculty receives a three-year award to help afford: State-of-the-art instructional tools and equipment, speakers, attendance at professional conferences, travel or any other expenditure that is consistent with the Colleges learning goals.

Category II: Endowed Chairs to Enhance State-of-the-Art Learning
Provides annual funds to a department or division to enable individual or collective faculty within the department to better meet the learning needs of their students. The department receives funds to help afford:  State-of-the-art instructional tools and equipment, speakers, attendance at professional conferences, travel or any other expenditure that is consistent with the College’s learning goals.

Category III: Endowed Chairs to Enhance the Cultural Environment
Provides funds to the College to bring displays, exhibits, speakers, musical concerts, readings and other presentations to the campus for the cultural and learning benefit of our students and community.

Category IV: Endowed Chairs to Enhance the Educational Environment
Provides funds to the College for bringing persons of national or international acclaim to campuses for a short-term residency to enhance the learning environment for our students and community.  Residencies can include activities such as: lectures, panel discussions, class visits, receptions, media interviews, displays, exhibits, musical concerts, readings, other presentations or any other expenditure that is consistent with the department’s learning goals.

  Category V: New Initiative Endowment
Provides a means for the College to maintain its vitality and progress with funds that enhance the College’s ability to strengthen the learning environment and/or respond to community needs for program development, professional development, research and development projects, planning efforts or any related activity consistent with the College’s vision.
