Senior Learning Institute to Offer Preview with Film

The Senior Learning Institute at the College of Central Florida will show the silent film “Modern Times” on Wednesday, Jan. 11, as a free sampling of upcoming courses.
The mini-course will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. in the University Center, Room 109, at the CF Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. The session will give participants an opportunity to preview the two upcoming courses Modern Times: Emerging Technologies of the 21st Century and For Love of Film.
The film “Modern Times” is a 1936 comedy by Charlie Chaplin. The classic reflects poor employment and financial conditions during the Great Depression of the 1930s.
The Senior Learning Institute, a membership organization of learners age 50 and better, offers college-level courses without the requirement of homework and tests. In addition, members enjoy a variety of cultural and community activities. Membership is $125 per year or $75 for October through April; courses are $8 each.
