Opening on Jan. 21 is “For the Love of the Sea: Watercolors of Philip Steel” exhibiting 35 original paintings produced by this award-winning New England artist whose nautical-themed works reflect his knowledge of the sea and deep respect for those who make a living from the ocean.

In addition, the Appleton’s 25th Anniversary Gala “La Belle Epoque” is scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, to celebrate the museum’s public opening in 1987. For sponsorship opportunities and ticket information, contact Pamela Zeljak at 352-291-4455, ext. 1294, or zeljakp@cf.edu.
