Appleton Birthday Celebration Includes Free Admission, Entertainment and More

Everyone is invited to enjoy free admission, magic acts, live music, cake and more during the 25th Birthday Party Celebration at the Appleton Museum of Art, College of Central Florida, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16.
Appleton Director Cindi Morrison said, “Since opening in December 1987, the Appleton Museum has provided the citizens of Central Florida with a world class art collection, exceptional cultural experiences and countless educational programs. We cordially invite all local residents and holiday visitors to the area to come to the museum on Dec. 16 and celebrate the Appleton’s 25th birthday by touring the current exhibitions and enjoying the day’s special entertainment.”
The Appleton’s 25th birthday celebration includes free admission, performances by award-winning magician Greg Solomon, live music by Robin and The Giant, docent stations in the galleries, children’s face painting and party hat making sessions. Guests of all ages are invited to view each of the museum’s galleries including the current temporary exhibitions “Sendak & Co.: Children’s Book Illustrations Since ‘Where the Wild Things Are’” and “The Nature of Things: The Art of Ed Smith.”
In addition to the birthday activities, the Appleton Museum of Art offers a permanent collection of European, American and Contemporary art, plus Asian, African, Islamic and pre-Columbian artifacts and antiquities. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. Sundays and closed on Mondays, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. A 12-month membership is available for $25 for seniors 55 and over, $30 for adults 18 and over, $40 for two seniors over age 55, $50 for a family of two adults and any children under age 18, and $15 for all college students and current or retired educators.
