Appleton Museum to Participate in Conservation Assessment Program

June 17, 2013

The Appleton Museum of Art, College of Central Florida, will participate in Heritage Preservation’s 2013 Conservation Assessment Program, which will provide a general conservation assessment of the museum’s collections.

The Appleton joins 2,800 museums that have been chosen to participate in CAP. A professional conservator will spend two days surveying the Appleton and three days preparing a comprehensive report that will identify conservation priorities. The on-site consultation will enable the Appleton Museum staff to evaluate current collections care policies, procedures and environmental conditions. Participation will also assist in the development of a comprehensive Long Range Preservation Plan for the museum.

“We are pleased about this opportunity and look forward to the feedback from CAP,” said Appleton Director Cindi Morrison.

Heritage Preservation President Lawrence L. Reger praised the Appleton Museum for “making the vital work of caring for collections a priority of their institution, even in these challenging financial times, and helping ensure that they are available to present and future generations.”
