'Appleton in Bloom' Preview Party Jan. 31 Kicks Off Three-Day Exhibit

A special “Appleton in Bloom” Preview Party is scheduled on the evening of Thursday, Jan. 31, at the Appleton Museum of Art, College of Central Florida, to reveal the 30 floral creations on exhibit to the public during “Appleton in Bloom,” Feb. 1-3.
The “Appleton in Bloom” Preview Party on Jan. 31 begins at 6 p.m. with a reveal of 30 floral creations inspired by the museum’s finest works of art and designed by members of the award-winning Florida Federation of Garden Clubs. The evening includes live entertainment, working artists, music, floral-inspired food and a live auction. Tickets are available at the Appleton and priced at $65 for members, $75 for yet-to-be members. Proceeds from “Appleton in Bloom” support the Appleton’s exhibition and education programs.
“Appleton in Bloom” is a collaboration of the Appleton Museum and the Ocala Pioneer Garden Club. All 30 floral designs will remain on view in the museum’s galleries Feb. 1-3. During the exhibition guests can also attend gardening, floral design and art-related workshops and browse among vendor booths offering gardening supplies. “Appleton in Bloom” is presented with support from Jenkins Auto Group, Macy’s and Regions.
Daily admission to the Appleton Museum is $6 for adults; $4 for seniors 55 or better and students 19 and over; $3 for youths ages 10-18; and free for members, CF students, children age 9 and under, and active military personnel and their immediate families.
In addition to “Appleton in Bloom,” guests can tour the museum’s temporary exhibitions “Rebels With a Cause: American Impressionist Women from the Huntsville Museum of Art,” “Chick Schwartz: Cedar Key Artist” and “Art on the Move: Kids’ License Tag Art.” The Appleton offers a permanent collection of European, American and Contemporary art, plus Asian, African, Islamic and pre-Columbian artifacts and antiquities. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. Sundays and closed on Mondays, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. A 12-month membership is available for $25 for seniors 55 and over, $30 for adults 18 and over, $40 for two seniors over age 55, $50 for a family of two adults and any children under age 18, and $15 for all college students and current or retired educators.
