CF Webber Gallery to Host 'Best of the Season'

The Visual Artists’ Society brings “Best of the Season: A Culinary Celebration” to the Webber Center Gallery at College of Central Florida beginning Wednesday, Nov. 9.

An opening reception will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on that day in the Webber Center at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. The event and reception are free and open to the public.

Visual Artists’ Society was formed by CF to serve local artists and exhibit their talent and imagination. Member David D’Alessandris shares his vision, “As an artist I am motivated by materials, color and texture, subject matter and of course a touch of humor. Art should not necessarily be a canvas or a piece of paper under glass.”

Judging will be by Nan Smith, a sculptor and professor in the ceramics program at the University of Florida. Smith’s sculpture has been shown in the books “The Figure in Clay” and “World Famous Ceramic Artists Studios” and is featured in numerous magazine articles. Her work is in collections of The American Express Corporation, The Lamar Dodd Art Center and the World Ceramics Exposition Korea International Collection, Ichon, Korea.

This exhibit will be open through Saturday, Dec. 10. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The gallery is closed Sundays, Mondays and college-observed holidays. For more information call 352-873-5809.
