CF Brain Bowl Students Qualify for Tournament

Members of College of Central Florida Brain Bowl teams have qualified for the Community College Championship Tournament of the National Academic Quiz Tournaments to be held March 1-2 in St. Louis.
To advance, the CF Red Team tied for first and the White Team finished fourth at the NAQT South Florida Sectional Tournament Jan. 26 at State College of Florida-Manatee/Sarasota in Bradenton. If either team finishes in the top six places in St. Louis, the players will be eligible to participate in Division 2 of the NAQT Intercollegiate Championship Tournament in Chicago in mid-April, where they will compete against teams from four-year colleges and universities.
The Red Team also qualified to participate in the Florida College System Activities Association State Brain Bowl Tournament. The players compiled a perfect 5-0 record in winning the East-Central Regional Tournament hosted by CF Feb. 8. The state tournament will be played March 15-16 at Florida Gateway College in Lake City.
Red Team members are Brittney Burleson, Stetson Cooper, Zachary Cooper, Bernard Domeisen, and Sean Fitzpatrick. White Team members are Naomi McLain, Cory Mikell, Skylan Ohler, Shazeem Sadeek, and James Walegorski. Also participating on the team this year are Alicia Craven, Lisa Manikowski and Michael Theed.
