Citrus Campus to Celebrate International Education Week

Central Florida Community College will explore International Education Week with events for students and community members at the Citrus Campus, 3800 S. Lecanto Highway, Lecanto. There is no fee for the events, which take place in the new Citrus Learning and Conference Center.

On Thursday, Nov. 12, there will be a lecture on International Culture, Society and Politics: A View From India, led by Dr. V. Chellammal, CFCC Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence from India. The lecture is from 11 a.m. to noon. The lecture will be in Room 101B.

On Tuesday, Nov. 17, CFCC students will present a simulation of the United Nations. Session 1 is from 10:50 a.m. to noon and Session 2 is 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The sessions will be in Room 101B.

On Wednesday, Nov. 18, there will be an International Flag Display, with the 192 flags of U.N. member countries, and Read-in. Participants will select a flag and tell the story of the country the flag represents. The event will be from 12:30 to 3 p.m. in Room 103.

International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate diversity, raise global awareness, and to highlight the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. Each year many CFCC students participate in study abroad opportunities. In addition, CFCC hosts international scholars and visitors and many faculty and administrators travel abroad for research, recruitment and professional development.
