Security Officer Training Now at Citrus Campus

Jan. 21, 2010

Central Florida Community College Citrus Campus is now offering training for security officers at the Citrus Campus, 3800 S. Lecanto Highway.

The Security Officer: 24-Hour Unarmed course enables students to apply for a “D” license. Topics covered in the class include legal issues/civil liability, observation techniques, report writing, basic emergency first aid, emergency procedures, ethics/professional conduct, patrol techniques, and Chapter 493 Florida Statutes. The class will meet Feb. 8-13, 6-10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The course fee is $105.

Because the state requires 40 hours of training, students must also complete the Security Officer: 16-Hour Unarmed (Supplemental) course within 180 days of their initial license application. This course covers public relations, courtroom procedures, interviewing techniques, crowd control and other special problems faced by security officers. This class will meet Saturday and Sunday, March 27-28, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The course fee is $90.

For information or to register, call 352-249-1210. Online registration can be completed any time at www.CFCCtraining.com.
