CFCC Comes Alive With Summer Spotlight XII Exhibit

~April 21, 2008

Central Florida Community College will showcase the talent of Visual Artists’ Society members in “Summer Spotlight XII,” with the opening reception set for Thursday, May 15.

The reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Webber Center at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. Musician Rudy Turner will perform smooth and contemporary jazz at the event, which is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Judges for the juried show are Peg Richardson, watercolor artist, art teacher and arts consultant living and creating in Gainesville, and Mallory O’Conner, artist and Santa Fe Community College art teacher from Gainesville. Monetary awards and ribbons will be presented at the opening.

The Visual Artists’ Society was formed to serve local artists and students studying fine arts at Central Florida Community College. Between 50 and 70 pieces will be considered for the juried and judged show. Most works will be available for purchase.

The exhibit will be open through June 21. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The gallery is closed Sundays and Mondays, but remains open on Fridays during the college’s four-day summer work week. Admission is free.
