CF Hampton Center to Host Book Discussion

The College of Central Florida will hold a book discussion on “If You Come Softly” and “Behind You” at the CF Hampton Center on Friday, Oct. 19.

The free event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hampton Center, 1501 W. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala. A limited number of books will be donated to participants taking part in the discussion. Books can be picked up at the Hampton Center Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Jacqueline Woodson, author of the books, has received three Newberry Honors, a Coretta Scott King Book Award, two National Book Awards and more.

“If You Come Softly” is for readers age 12 and older and tells the story of an interracial romance. “Behind You” is the sequel to “If You come Softly” and is for readers age 10 and up. Publishers Weekly has said that Woodson “handles delicate, even explosive subject matter with exceptional clarity, surety and depth.”
