CF Hampton Film Series Presents 'Stand and Deliver'

The College of Central Florida will close for midyear break at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20, and will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 8 a.m. Classes begin Thursday, Jan. 5. Some offices will have limited operations during the break to assist students.
The College of Central Florida will present the film “Stand and Deliver” on Friday, March 9. The showing is free and begins at 6 p.m. at the CF Hampton Center, 1501 W. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala.
"Stand and Deliver” is based on the story of Jaime Escalante, a high school teacher who uses unconventional teaching methods and inspires students in his calculus class to pass the Advanced Placement exam. The 1988 film was directed by Ramon Menendez and stars Edward James Olmos. The 103-minute film is rated PG and was nominated for Oscar and Golden Globe awards.
The film is the third of the year in the Hampton Center Film Series, a cultural and educational outreach program. The series is sponsored by the CF International Film Series, the CF Foundation and The Sircle Inc.
