Full Slate of Activities for International Education Week

Central Florida Community College will explore International Education Week, Nov. 16-21, with several events for students and the community.
All week long, the International Student Club will have information tables and demonstrations from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bryant Student Union at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. In addition, the Patriot Cafe will serve international cuisine.
On Tuesday, Nov. 17, the International Film Series will feature “Outsourced,” a romantic comedy that focuses on an American who travels to India to train his call center replacement. The film will be screened at 2 and 7 p.m. in Building 8, Room 110, at the Ocala Campus.
On Wednesday, Nov. 18, there will be an International Flag Display and Read-in from 12:30 to 3 p.m. in the Citrus Learning and Conference Center at the Citrus Campus, 3800 S. Lecanto Highway, Lecanto. View the 192 flags of the United Nations members and become a voice for the flags.
Thursday, Nov. 19, the International Student Club will have information tables and demonstrations from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bryant Student Union at the Ocala Campus.
On Friday, Nov. 20, there will be a Fulbright panel presentation by CFCC’s faculty and administrators who are Fulbright recipients from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Webber Center at the Ocala Campus. Dr. V. Chellammal, Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence from India, will also share her experiences and participants will hear about Fulbright opportunities.
On Saturday, Nov. 21, Chellammal will speak on the art and culture of India at 1:15 p.m. at the Appleton Museum of Art of Central Florida Community College, 4333 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala. She will focus on the Appleton collection of Hindu and Indian art.
The events are sponsored by the International Education office with support from the International Student Club, Student Activities Board, CFCC Foundation and Gladys Webber Endowed Chair.
"International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate diversity, raise global awareness, and to highlight the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide," said Ramona Kirsch, director of International Education and English as a Second Language at CFCC. Each year many CFCC students participate in study abroad opportunities. In addition, CFCC hosts international scholars and visitors and many faculty and administrators travel abroad for research, recruitment and professional development.
