Boating Safety Course at CFCC Levy Center

The Levy Center of Central Florida Community College will offer a nine-hour Boating Safety Course in August. The class will meet from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on two Saturdays, Aug. 9 and 16, at the Levy Center, 114 Rodgers Blvd. in Chiefland.
The class is taught by U.S. Coast Guard certified instructors and meets requirements to obtain the Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card. The card is mandated by state law for persons 21 years of age or younger to operate a vessel powered by a motor of 10 horsepower or greater, including personal water crafts.
Topics include federal and Florida regulations, equipment requirements, rules of the waterway, boat handling, trailering, marine radio procedures, aids to navigation and other vessel safety topics. The course fee of $35 includes all materials.
