CF Levy Center to Offer 3 Courses in Small Business Development Series

The College of Central Florida will offer three courses in October as part of its Small Business Development Series. The sessions will meet at the Levy Center, 114 Rodgers Blvd. in Chiefland.
Simple Steps to Starting Your Business will meet Monday, Oct. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. The free session is offered by SCORE of Gainesville. Participants will brainstorm business opportunities, learn about the advantages and disadvantages of owning a business, the most profitable form for a business, and the fundamentals of formation, organization, marketing, cash flow and funding sources.
Simple Steps to Growing Your Business will meet Monday, Oct. 22, from 6 to 9 p.m. The free session is offered by SCORE. Participants will learn how to set goals, plan for the future and identify growth strategies.
Starting or Expanding Your Business Online will meet three Mondays, Oct. 29-Nov. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. The course fee is $59 and includes a textbook. Participants will learn the types of businesses found online and how to select one that is right for them. Topics include what to consider in a business plan, the tools to build a website, marketing and advertising, and converting “clicks” to customers. The course is intended to help the small business owner collaborate successfully with a website designer. To allow time to order books, registration closes on Oct. 22.
Resource partners for the series are the Florida Small Business Development Council at the University of North Florida, Levy County Enterprise Zone, Levy County Visitors Bureau, Nature Coast Business Development Council Inc., SCORE of Gainesville, and Workforce Connection of Citrus, Levy and Marion counties.
