Computer Courses for Seniors at Levy Center

The Central Florida Community College Levy Center is accepting enrollments for a new series of four computer classes designed for the senior learner, age 55 and better.

Computer Fundamentals for Seniors I begins on Tuesday, Jan. 19. During this three-week class students will learn the fundamentals of the Microsoft Windows XP Operating System and how to manage programs and files on the computer. The students will also become familiar with the hardware associated with computers including the CPU, hard drive, keyboard, monitors, mouse and printers. The textbook is included in the course fee of $75 and will be used for the entire series of classes.

Computer Fundamentals for Seniors II, Tuesdays, Feb. 9-23, will introduce students to the Internet using Microsoft Internet Explorer. The course fee is $45.

Computer Fundamentals for Seniors III, Tuesdays, March 16-30, will focus on using the Internet to send, receive and manage e-mail as well as how to send attachments. The course fee is $45.

The series concludes with Computer Fundamentals for Seniors IV, Tuesdays, April 6-13. It introduces Microsoft Word 2007 software, which students will use to learn to create, save and edit documents. The course fee is $30.

All classes will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Levy Center, 114 Rodgers Blvd. in Chiefland. Class size is limited to eight participants so that students may receive individual attention. If students enroll in all four classes, they will receive a discount of $20. Enroll in person at the Levy Center or call 352-493-9533.
