CFCC Plans Mental Health Conference

Mental health professionals will have an opportunity to earn continuing education credits in a central place and time at an October conference that will be presented by Central Florida Community College, Webster University, Capella University, Munroe Regional Medical Center and The Centers.
Keynote speaker is Melody Kipp, Ph.D., Counseling program coordinator at Webster University, on “Transforming Florida’s Mental Health System: A Report on What’s New in Mental Health Care.”
“We are excited to offer this opportunity to area mental health professionals,” said Donnah Courtice, CFCC’s director of Corporate Training and Continuing Education. “This conference will bring together experts in the health care field to share the latest trends, all in a central location.”
The conference will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the CFCC Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. CFCC is currently accepting online registration at its Continuing Education Web site, www.CFCCtraining.com.
Sessions include Laws and Rules of the Board; Later Life Issues; Is it Autism? Early Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment; Domestic Violence in the Workplace; Transforming Florida’s Mental Health System; Interactive Addictions; The Effect of Mental Health Issues on the Family; Private Practice — Legal, Ethical and Lucrative; and Bipolar Disorders in Children.
Sessions are two hours each and will meet once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Attendees may attend four sessions and earn up to nine continuing education units. Session enrollment is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis on that day.
CFCC is an approved provider of CEUs for the Florida Certification Board; Florida Board of Psychology; Florida Board of Nursing; Employee Assistance Certification Commission; and Florida Board of Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Licensed Mental Health Counselors.
