Mysticism Author Mundy to Visit Ocala Campus

Jan. 11, 2010

Central Florida Community College will host Dr. Jon Mundy, author, lecturer and standup philosophical comedian on Thursday, Jan. 28.

The presentation, “What is Mysticism? Comparing the Insights of the Mystics,” begins at 7 p.m. in the Ewers Century Center at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. There is no charge to attend the presentation, which will explore miracles, metaphysics and the mystical experience.

"Jon Mundy is an outstanding authority on the subject of mystical experiences, having carefully researched and documented the phenomenon throughout history and in all corners of the world,” said Dr. Scott Olsen, CFCC professor of Humanities and recipient of the Sarala Ramkrishna Karve Endowed Chair. “And although Dr. Mundy has undergone profound mystical experiences of his own, he has found a way of truly connecting with his audiences by conveying his subject with humility and humor.

"At times he will even slip into the role of a standup comedian portraying the hilarious character of Dr. Baba Jon Mundane, the Merry Medicine Man, a learned authority on all things mystical. Our community is in for a real treat.”

Mundy has been teaching university courses in philosophy and religion since 1967. He is the publisher of “Miracles”magazine and the author of eight books including “What is Mysticism,” June 2008; “Missouri Mystic,” 2004; and “Listening to Your Inner Guide,” 1995.
