Learn Sign Language at CFCC

The CF Institute at Central Florida Community College will offer Beginner Sign Language I on Tuesdays, Feb. 2 through March 2. The course will meet 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. The course fee is $55.

Instructor Judy McCumbee will teach hand shapes, palm orientation, movement and location for each vocabulary word. Students should already be familiar with the deaf alphabet, hand shapes, and finger spelling before taking this class.

The required text is “Signing, How To Speak With Your Hands” by Elaine Costello ISBN 0-553-37539-3. The book contains 1,300 signs to provide you with enough vocabulary to express yourself in simple conversations.
