Springs Protection Presentation at Ocala Campus

Geologist Harley Means will give a presentation on “The Springs of North Central Florida – Why We Need to Protect Them” at Central Florida Community College on Wednesday, Jan. 20.
The presentation begins at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Ewers Century Center at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. There is no charge to attend. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions following the 50-minute presentation.
Means is a state district geologist with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida Geological Survey, in Tallahassee. He is a fourth-generation Florida native with a master’s degree in geology from Florida State University.
On Jan. 21, the college will host a workshop on Advanced Septic Systems with the Rainbow and Silver Springs Basin Working Groups. The workshop is geared for people in the water and wastewater industries, although others may attend. There is no fee for the workshop which runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Ewers Century Center.
