CF Theatre Students Present 'Beyond Therapy'

March 13, 2014

College of Central Florida Theatre students present “Beyond Therapy” April 2-5 at 7:30 p.m. and April 6 at 3 p.m. in the Dassance Fine Arts Center on the CF Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road.

Written by Christopher Durang the quirky comedy chronicles the story of Bruce and Prudence. Prudence’s macho therapist is urging her to be more assertive, while Bruce’s wacky female therapist wants him to meet women by placing a personal ad. Neither of the characters knows what to expect and neither will the audience. Time Magazine says the show “offers the best therapy of all: guaranteed laughter.” The show is recommended for mature audiences.

CF Assistant Professor of Visual and Performing Arts Rob O’Brien said the production is a great fit for student actors.

“They get to develop over-the-top characters that live in the real world,” said O’Brien. “Also, the show has some challenging technical requirements. Our techs have been very resourceful solving the problems.”

Tickets for the show are $12 for adults and $6 for students. CF students receive free admission to the show with proof of a student ID. For information and tickets, call 352-873-5810 or 352-746-6721, ext. 5810. To purchase tickets online, visit tickets.CF.edu.
