July 8, 2008
The CF Institute at Central Florida Community College will offer a Workforce Training Package beginning in July for seniors 50 and better. The program is designed for individuals nearing retirement, already retired or exploring new directions in life and includes five courses and workshops for a single fee of $100.
- Re-entering the World of Work Seminar is a two-hour workshop that covers resume writing, interview skills, time management and more.
- Job Club is a one-hour workshop that brings together senior-friendly employers and job candidates.
- A Career Scope and Choices Assessment will help individuals choose their career focus.
- Keyboarding and Basic Computer Operations is a 12-hour course for individuals who have little or no experience with a computer. Students will learn how computers work, the difference between hardware and software, and have time for mouse and keyboard practice.
- Customer Service Technology Training is a 15-hour training that includes Windows XP and Computer Basics, Internet Explorer/Outlook and Customer Service Training. The sessions will help students work through computer anxieties and help them to develop skills needed for success in the customer service field.
Training is offered in several sessions beginning July 21. All classes meet during the day at the Ewers Century Center of the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. For a complete schedule or to request an enrollment form, call Bebe Rahaman at 352-854-2322, ext. 1675, or Betty Green at 352-291-4444.
The program is offered by CFCC’s Pathways to Living, Learning & Serving, providing comprehensive, coordinated services to the mature citizens of the communities served by the college. The program was developed with the support of The American Association for Community Colleges and Atlantic Philanthropies.
