College Credit Certificate Program for
Emergency Medical Technician - Basic

This one-term program provides training to prepare the student for certification and employment as an Emergency Medical Technician in accordance with the U.S. Department of Transportation curriculum and state of Florida EMS/Department of Health rules and regulations. This is a limited access program.
Students seeking admission must meet the requirements as stated in the Emergency Medical Services Application Packet. These packets are available in the Division of Health and Human Services, Ocala campus, building 35, room 104, and at the monthly information sessions. A grade of "C" or "S" is the minimum passing grade for any EMS course.

The program policies including attendance, grading, clinical behaviors and readmission guidelines are found in the student handbook each student receives once admitted to the EMT program.
NOTE: Upon acceptance into the program, a medical examination and proof of immunization are required.

All students are required to carry liability insurance. Liability insurance is included in tuition fees.
- All students are responsible for their own health/hospitalization insurance.
- It is necessary that students have reliable transportation to the assigned hospitals and clinical facilities. Clinical rotations will begin after the first few weeks of class and skills lab experience.
