The two-year Automotive Service Management Technology program is designed to prepare students for industry certification and employment as automotive/light truck technicians at area dealerships, independent garages or other automotive repair facilities. Instruction is provided in the diagnosis, repair and service of engines, fuel emissions systems, brakes, drive trains, steering and suspension systems, transmissions, electrical systems, electronic engine controls and automotive computer control systems. The program also includes instruction in safe and efficient work practices, troubleshooting skills, and service and maintenance of automobiles. Students will also be instructed in techniques to develop the people skills essential for job success. Classroom instruction and shop experiences will be the primary delivery systems. The program manager may require additional courses or make substitutions required to meet the needs of students.
