This brings our total balance of Fund 1 and Fund 6-AFC Trust accounts to $14,406.08.
Membership Report
Currently, our AFC chapter has 238 full-time members. 9 members hold memberships that will expire at the end of January. These individuals have already been contacted to see if they wish to renew for the coming year.
Activities Report
Susan Murphy reported that, the Holiday Food Drive to benefit College Park Elementary School students and their families was a huge success. The outpouring of donations from faculty and staff was so overwhelming that we were able to provide more food to each of the 30 families than planned, with funds leftover. Each family received a large box brimming with food, and a bag of goodies. Everyone who donated to the event will receive a personalized thank you from our chapter. These were mailed on January 25, 2012.
$475.81 was leftover from this event, mainly due to the generosity of Bob DuMond, who donated all of the proceeds from his winter poinsettia and Christmas cactus sales toward the food drive, in addition to the large amount of other donations that were received. These funds will be put to good use at Spring Break, when our chapter will provide a Spring Break snack pack for the children at College Park. The snack packs will contain 5 snacks in decorated brown paper lunch sacks. These will be assembled at the end of CF’s Spring Break in March and delivered to College Park Elementary in time for the public school Spring Break which is the following week. They will go to those students who receive free lunches.
The Activities committee will sell cookie bags for Valentine’s Day. These bags will have 3 Norwegian sugar cookies per bag and sell for $2.00 per bag. A local baker has graciously agreed to make and package the cookies for our chapter.
An educational luncheon will be held on February 29, 2012 from 12:30pm – 1:30pm in the Webber Center, providing information about the purpose and services of Grace Place, which provides transitional housing for women who have substance abuse issues and are in recovery. Attendance will be limited to 50 people and a light lunch will be served. More information on this event will be broadcast closer to the date.
The Employee Appreciation Breakfast will be held at 8:30am on April 11, 2012 in the Klein Center. More information to follow.
