Meeting Minutes

Present: Diana Ryon, Carol S. Smith, Debbie Thaysen, Casey Kirchoff, Dog Olson, Deanna Stentiford, Pat Fleming, Bob DuMond
Special Business:

Dr. Dassance greeted the meeting and indicated that the Legislative session has just started, and he will bring us updates as events warrant.

Guest Speaker Gloria James from the March of Dimes gave a presentation about the importance of the March of Dimes efforts for pre-natal care. MOD is launching a 7 million dollar campaign for the next 5 years. Pat Fleming is our Team Captain this year. Brochures are available from Pat, the Learning Support Center (3-101), Civic Education and Student Leadership Development (Club Hub) and elsewhere. Consider contributing as folks come to your area.

Pat Fleming also spoke about this spring's United Way Day of Caring, which is Saturday April 5th at Evangeline Booth Gardens from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Groups will be cleaning up, doing handiwork; haircuts will be donated from Personal Services; a new grill, made by the students in the Welding program, will be installed. Call Pat to sign up to help out!

Carol S. Smith will be organizing the MOD Blue Jeans for Babies effort starting on March 21st. Wear blue jeans on consecutive Fridays and donate $1.00 per day or $5 for 6 Fridays.

Secretary's Minutes: Minutes of 14 February 2003 were approved.
Treasurer's Report: SPD funds stand at $771.30 through June. The Trust fund is at $988.93.
Old Business:

Carole Bartholomew noted the Executive Board approved expenditure of $39.60 + $9.95 postage ($49.55 total) for Welcome candy bars to first-timers at FACC meetings. The shipment included Happy Birthday pound-block of chocolate that will be donated to the FACC Region III meeting as a door prize.

At future FACC meetings, Bob DuMond will offer a free potted plant as a door prize for meeting attendees.

The CFCC Chapter book from the Convention is missing. If anyone has it or recalls where they saw it last, please contact Diana Ryon immediately.

Activities Report: Diana Ryon and Joan Cosma will co-chair the Activities Committee. They will assign committee members to take the lead on different committee efforts during the year.
New Business:

Casey reported on the plans for the April 7th FACC Region III meeting that will be held here at CFCC from 8:30am to 3:00pm at the Webber Center. Jim Moyer will be presenting the SMILE program. There will be a continental breakfast and a luncheon. The registration fee is $35 and FACC SPD funds are available for those intending to come. Casey is seeking assistance with set-up, registration, lunch, etc. Motion was made to have FACC sponsor the Region III meeting luncheon for $250. Diana Ryon seconded; motion approved.

Carol S. Smith has asked that group or building representatives be considered as a mean of promoting FACC participation. The Executive Board will discuss this further.

Announcements:

There has been a call for programs for the Student Development Commission meeting on May 21st.

Carole Bartholomew has received a promotion from Universal Studios for FACC members. 2-day tickets for $82. Contact her for more information.
