Old Business

The By-laws committee recommended the following minor changes be made to the CFCC – FACC by-laws. In section 1 we would add a 6th class of participants, the group affiliation membership. The example given was a student group who would like to be associated with the goals of FACC. The second change was in section 2 to added payment of dues by cash or check. A motion was made to approve, it was seconded and changes were approved by attending members.

Don’t forget we still have funds in our travel account if you are interested in attending the Region 3 spring conference meeting on April 28th, the Student Development Conference on May 18, 19, 20 in Ft. Myers or the FACC Annual Convention for Nov. 16 – 18 at the Hyatt Regency in Tampa.

New Business

Mac Dismuke gave us a report on the Technology Commission Meeting. He wanted to remind everyone that attending one of these meeting is a great way to establish a circle of professional contacts, resources and networking tools. He talked about the Florida Distance Learning Consortium, which allows schools to buy technology in bulk. It gives you access to the Orange Grove – a repository of learning objectives. His example was that of the beating heart that staff can use in teaching their classes. They also discussed network security and the problems associate with wireless computer access.

FACC is purchasing a new building in Tallahassee. Check the web for the latest legislative update. It was also suggested that the update be published in the Insider or the Patriot Press.
