Professional Growth and Development Committee

January Minutes

Location: Bldg. 3-112A

Time: 1:30-2:10 pm

Dr. Peter Smith, Dr. Leonard Everett, Carol Smith, Dick Burgoon, Joe Zimmerman, Sandy Scott and Chuckie Delano attended the January meeting.

The committee reported on New Employee Orientation follow-up.  Peter Smith, Carol Smith and Dick Burgoon met with new employees and noted that orientation is providing a good foundation of information for new employees.  For the next round of follow-ups, Carol agreed to meet with Melanie Butterworth, Leonard Everett will meet with Jeff Crimm and Chuckie Delano will meet with Catherine McCourt.

As a continuation of the previous meeting, members discussed outlining the expectations for employees volunteering for the Mentor Bank.  Since faculty members are assigned a mentor, the Office of Professional Development would work with supervisors and CPEC to link up new employees with current staff members.  As a complementary project, the Professional Growth and Development committee discussed starting a skills bank that would enable employees to seek help from other employees with different skills.

Finally, the group reviewed the Workshop Availability survey and viewed information from Kantola (http://www.kantola.com/d/alltopic.htm)

The next committee meetings are Feb, 25, Mar 31 and Apr 28.
