Teaching Learning Institute

TLI logo The mission of the Teaching Learning Institute is simple: to foster a learning-centered culture at Central Florida Community College. We are dedicated to providing our faculty—full time and adjunct—with resources and support to fulfill this important mission.

The Professional Development Center offers a place to work individually or with colleagues to design materials for the improvement of learning in the classroom or in offices throughout the college. Our facilities include the following resources:

  • An instructional technology computer lab with 16 computer stations for workshops and assistance in the development and use of presentation tools, a four station mini-lab with plasma screen to work on individual projects, desktop publishing, graphics packages, creation of web pages a separate video capture station;
  • A large conference room with teleconferencing equipment, providing a spacious and welcoming setting for committee meetings, workshops, and other functions; and two smaller breakout conference areas equipped with plasma screens and laptop stations.

We also have many resources in the T/LI Library which will help you enhance your teaching skills. In addition, we also publish Directions, our very own faculty journal dedicated to best practices in teaching and learning.

Don’t forget that funds for many types of professional development-conference attendance; Super Saturday and Summer Fantasy workshops; and mini-grants-are also available to you through the T/LI.

The T/LI has a great team. Sandy Scott, our Professional Development Center coordinator, (x1708) can answer any questions you may have about our programs and services. Our technical expert-Steve Hill is available throughout the week for your assistance. Chuckie Delano, Manager of Professional Development, is also available to help.

You are welcome to stop by for coffee and professional conversation regarding instruction any time. We are here to help you accomplish your goals for continually improving the teaching and learning environment at CFCC.
