DESCRIPTION:The College of Central Florida will showcase the talent of its Visual Arts and Digital Media students in “The 2024 CF Student Art Exhibition\,” on view March 25-April 30. This annual exhibition provides students with an opportunity to present their work in a professional environment\, fostering a dynamic intersection of creativity and learning. Join us for a celebration of artistic talent and expression as we proudly showcase the talents within the College of Central Florida’s Visual Arts and Digital Media programs. \nWorks will be judged by Jacob Z. Wan\, an artist and conceptual bookbinder who creates mixed-media books to celebrate the importance of oneself. His books have been collected internationally and exhibited in Germany\, China\, the Florida Biennial\, and the International Book Art Exhibition in New York. Wan has received his BFA and MFA from the University of Central Florida\, and he currently teaches at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville\, Florida. \nTopics and concepts presented at this event are for discussion purposes only and are not intended to espouse\, promote\, advance\, inculcate\, or compel individuals to believe the topics or concepts presented therein. Films at the Ocala Campus are free and open to the public. Films at the Appleton are free to all museum and film series members; nonmembers pay museum admission. Films may contain mature content. \n\nAbout the Film\n \n“Polite Society”(PG-13 UK\, 2023\, 107 min)  \nWhen her demure older sister\, Lena\, announces her impending nuptials\, Ria vows to thwart the marriage by whatever means necessary\, believing she is saving her sister from an uncertain fate. Armed with an overactive imagination and a ragtag gaggle of friends\, Ria concocts an outlandish heist to protect her sister’s independence. This playful\, action-pack coming-of-age comedy mixes elements from Bollywood and martial arts genres to create a fun-filled girl-power film that is perfect for Women’s History Month. \n
